I love the 60's. The mod movement, the doe-eyed eye makeup, the go-go boots, Brigitte Bardot, the funky bouffants, the Beatles (see post title), the psychedelia.... it's one of my favourite decades. What I love about this dress is that I feel like it's so reminiscent of that whole period!

And what better place is there to wear this outfit than London, where the british invasion all started? The last time I went to London was quite a few years ago... I remember that the third Harry Potter movie had just come out, but I think that's all that I can actually remember (haha I'm such a big potterhead). So this time around, we decided to go to all the classic tourist spots. These pictures were taken at Buckingham Palace and Green Park, where we just strolled around to just take a break from all the touristy hustle and bustle. Afterwards, we went to the Savoy Hotel to have a little taste of their oh-so-famous afternoon tea which was sooo gooood. Except for the fruitcake. I don't think that anybody can make fruitcake taste good.

So I've realized that I said that I would have everything up and running by the end of October break, but I've been a crappy blogger and October break has come and gone. These are the last of my outfit pictures though, I'll have a photo diary up soon!

clueless

cardigan: thrifted / button down: thrifted / jeans: pimkie / shoes: ross

Looking back on this outfit, doesn't it seem like something the modern day Cher Horowitz from Clueless would wear, or is it just me? The cardigan + button down combo is very Cher, but I think that the pastels and the metallic button down keep it from venturing too far into the diehard preppy zone. I LOVE 80's and 90's movies, and Clueless is one of my favourites. Tai's "rollin' with da homies" dance is forever embedded into my memory as one of the best things ever.

This was our second to last day in Paris.... it seems like forever ago, and yes, I promise that I'll be uploading all my looks from this trip so I can start on more current looks. School has just been taking a toll on the free time I have to do other things than just study.... but it's national holiday here in China in celebration of the founding of the People's Republic of China, so hopefully I can get all my looks up here by the end of the break!

waiting for forever

button down: thrifted / shorts: cotton on / shoes: dr. scholl's

Today in Paris, we went to flea markets like the Saint Ouens flea market and the Les Puces.

I thought this was the perfect day to wear this outfit that I've been dying to wear foreverrrrr, since around last spring, back when the infamous turbands were still garnering much attention. I was seeing a lot of orange + white combos, and I really liked the colourblocking and the impact of the overall look.

Even though it's been a long time since, this outfit has been something that I've always really wanted to wear, and now that I have, I feel like have filled some sartorial requirement of mine haha

I'm back with another post from Paris!
That day, we went to the Marais District and Montmartre, which I think is so beautiful and one of the best places to go for shopping in Paris.
When I was walking through the streets with this outfit on, I actually got a lot of weird looks from people, and I couldn't understand why because I thought I looked fabulous. But actually after thinking about it, I think it was because they thought I wasn't wearing pants.... eek! Actually, I was wearing a pair of black booty shorts inside, you just can't see it really clearly through all that tulle!
So this is a lesson to all those ladies out there who decide to wear a tutu.... wear something inside.

quintessentially parisian

Top: Forever 21 / Skirt: Forever 21 / Boots: Zara
Hey guys!
I'm back with another outfit post, and this time, I'm in Paris!
We went to all the big shots - the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Arc de Troimphe, so I wanted to wear something really girly-romantic and classically Parisian.
This isn't usually my style, but it's Paris, so why not?

These are some pictures that I took at Versailles, which I swear is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I wish that I could've been the first Asian princess of France so I could've lived here back in the day. Even the exterior of the palace is absolutely breathtaking. The black tiles and the gold gates and windowpanes remind me of Dolce and Gabbana's Fall 2012 RTW, no?

Blazer: thrifted / Top: thrifted / Belt: Mom's / Skirt: H&M / Shoes: Dr. Scholl's (yes, I have flat feet!)

It was super super windy the day we went. I was so scared that I would have a Marilyn Monroe moment and have my skirt fly up, but fortunately, the disaster was diverted. Hopefully, nobody could get a peek at my froggy undies. :P

oh so luxe

Hi guys! So I know that I haven't posted in a while, but I'm back and ready to get this show on the road.

I was in Brussels on a family road trip when these pictures were taken, and the location was so beautiful. Despite being very touristy, all the cobblestone streets and little shops made me feel like I could be transported back to a quieter, more simple time.

I love this outfit, I'm not sure if you can see clearly in the pictures, but my top is actually gold, with little subtle golden flecks in it. I love the rich, jewel-toned turquoise color next to the gold and the draping of my cardigan, it just makes me feel so sophisticated and luxurious!

Top: le Chateau / Cardigan: Esprit / Skirt: Chickeeduck / Shoes: Zara

I have a ton more pictures coming your way, so stay tuned for that!
